General Information on Clinton
Clinton was named in honor of George Clinton, governor of New York during the Revolutionary War, when it was established in 1786 combining territories from the towns of "Charlotte" and Rhinebeck.
Clinton is situated in the northwest of Dutchess County contiguous on the north to Rhinebeck. The Taconic State Parkway runs through Clinton. The town consists of a handful of hamlets and the Town Hall is located on Center Road (Dutchess county road 18) in the hamlet of Schultzville.
