          The township of Red Hook consists of two villages and a few hamlets. The two villages are Red Hook and Tivoli. Among the hamlets, Upper Red Hook is north of the village, which is a historic site with open farm lands, pristine forest, and old homes, and is arguably the most beautiful part of Red Hook.

Education 

          Red Hook has been dubbed with the reputation of being family friendly. Its School District is well respected and sought after. In fact it has become a main attraction for families to stay or relocate in Red Hook. The communities near the village have developed into family-oriented neighborhoods. Red Hook also provides to the public wonderful scenic parks, such as Poets’ Walk and “Montgomery Place.” The campus of Bard College is also open to the public, as well as many of its facilities.   

Attractions 

  • Barry Town is on the river and The Unification Theological Seminary is located here.
  • Annandale-on-Hudson is home to prestigious Bard College. The Center for Curatorial Studies (CCS) is on campus. Its museum, Hassle Museum of Art and CCS Galleries, provides the public a distinctive alternative space to view contemporary art in an academic setting.
  • Also on campus is the Fisher Center for Performing Arts. Designed by Frank Gehry, this institution has become a landmark in the Hudson Valley dedicated to classical music. Every summer in August, the Bard Music Festival is held at the center.    
  • On the edge of the village, tucked in behind a long stretch of brick wall is the most fabled village home, “Maizefiled”-- a magnificent brick structure in original Federal Style and Victorian addition sitting up on a Dias amid ancient giant trees in a park-like setting, “Maizefield” was originally constructed in 1797 for General Van Ness, painstakingly restored in the 60s, and is maintained with tremendous efforts now. “Maizefield” is on the National Register of Historic Places.
